The BBC News Channel reports that the Scottish Government is to table their much awaited Gender Recognition Reform Bill at the Holyrood Parliament. Four out of five parties represented in the Scottish parliament are supporters of streamlining the current procedures for someone to change their gender and acquire a Gender Recognition Certificate. The Scottish Conservative Party said that they broadly welcomed reform but said that they wanted guarantees that women’s rights would not be eroded. Supporters of the reform say that claims that trans women would somehow take over women only spaces are unfounded and that the real danger is from radical feminists towards trans people. Anti-trans women have been exposed in recent months as often being anti-gay and lesbian-phobic and to have formed unpleasant alliances with far right wing groups and religious fundamentalists.
