St David's Day Greetings and It's Pancake Day

01/03/2022

It’s time to send dual greetings this week. First off to our Welsh listeners as it was Saint David’s Day on Tuesday. The Welsh Capital, Cardiff, has a sizeable gay scene with pubs, clubs, a major Pride event and now a bookstore as well. The commercial scene is smaller in other towns across Wales, but this has not been a barrier to a lively movement: LGBTQIA Welsh people are rightly proud of their identities both as non-straight and as Welsh. We wish you a good week and hope that your celebrations were fabulous. We also send our wishes to LGBTQIA Christians, and their allies in the many progressive and liberal Christian groups who welcome queer people. We have now passed Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday and are into Lent. Traditionally, this is a time of the year when Christians give up fatty foods and sugary items and eat simply and wholesomely in the forty day run up to Easter. We hope that your pancake days were smashing and join you in looking forward to the Easter weekend which here in the UK, are a secular holiday for all.
