Ukrainian LGBTQ+ People Fight Bravely

23/04/2022

Cable  news channel Euronews reports that homophobic Ukranians are beginning to warm in their attitude towards LGBTQIA people as they see that members of the community in the war torn country are stepping up to defend the territory against Russian aggression.  Euronews reports that there are even unlikely alliances, with the UkrainePride group making a donation to a militia under the control of the far right Azov group, which had been accused in the past of making inflammatory public remarks against LGBTQIA people and other minorities such as Roma gypsies.  One of the reasons why the organisation is helping  Azov ay is because “it shows that Ukrainian society is united at this time,” said Yuriy Dvizhon, an activist within Ukrainepride.
