Television Unites to Remember Nazi Genocides

27/01/2025

There was further coverage in British and European media on Monday about the eightieth anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration and death camp in the latter days of the Second World War, as the Red Army of the Soviet Union, part of the Allied Group of Countries, pushed the fascist powers of Central Europe back towards the Nazi stronghold of Berlin.  ITV's Good Morning Britain programme spoke with one of the few remaining Holocaust survivors, a woman who had kept her experiences from her family until relatively recently.  Sky News also interviewed survivors and discussed the ways in which we need to remember the horrors of fascism.  Gay political commentator Andrew Pearce on ITV said that eternal vigilance was the price of freedom and liberty and urged people to unite in the spirit of democracy and its triumph over fascism in 1945.
