Right Wing Snowflakes Triggered by Sam Smith

27/02/2023

Sam Smith is no stranger to controversy, recently discussing how queerphobic people had verbally and in cases physically attacked them for being non-binary.  Now his devilish red themed performance at the Grammy’s has irked extreme right wing Christian conservatives who see the hand of Satan everywhere and who believe that Smith is possessed.  The New Musical Express takes up the story, noting that another “enfant terrible” of the music industry, Madonna, had remarked prior to the performance that ““Here’s what I’ve learned after four decades in music. If they call you shocking, scandalous, troublesome, problematic, provocative or dangerous, you are definitely onto something.”  Despite courting the ire of the far right and general reactionaries, the New Musical Express reports “Smith and Petras went on to win pair won the award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, making Petras the first transgender woman to win the accolade. In her acceptance speech, she paid tribute to late DJ and producer SOPHIE, along with Madonna and her mother.”  The atheist twitter feed “The Thinking Atheist” remarked on the conservatives triggered by Sam Smith’s performance “...and they call US the snowflakes!”
