A note on translation: as with our articles dealing with Welsh LGBTQIA+ issues, we had hoped to provide a translation into Cornish of this article. However there are no reliable and peer reviewed auto-translate functions available to handle the translation from English to Cornish. We have found that many LGBTQIA+ people are thoughtful and supportive of Cornish representation and autonomy. In 2011, Peter Tatchell, mostly known for his gay activism, penned a lengthy piece for the Guardian newspaper, in which he urged the Westminster government to recognise a degree of Cornish independence and self governance. His piece attracted an astounding 1500+ negative comments, leading Mr Tatchell to remark that he was saddened by the anti-Cornish feeling on a the part of a lot of English people.
