In Bristol, the popular independent cafe bar La Ruca on Gloucester Road is closing until 1st November to allow the family that run it to visit family in Chile. The family have run La Ruca since the eighties when they resettled in Bristol fleeing persecution from the murderous right wing regime then in power. A wholefoods shop with a cafe upstairs, the venue has a large progressive and LGBTQIA clientele and has also acted as a meeting place for groups such as the very LGBT+ friendly Bristol branch of Amnesty International, who also have their own bookshop on the Gloucester Road. The Cafe will be serving organic, vegetarian and vegan South American dishes once again from 1st November and the Wholefood shop on the ground floor will be staying open throughout.
