For some time, the Centre for Countering Digital Hate, a non profit organisation working in the UK and US, has been warning that Artificial Intelligence generated images are a threat to humanist democracy, since they can appear to show things that are not true and have not occurred. Increasingly, the sense of reality conveyed by AI generated images has been increasing. How long before homophobes and transphobes get their claws into the new tech, creating images that appear to show things that are not true - for example, a celebrity condemning LGBTQIA people when that is not their view at all.
