Bi Singer Skin Acknowledged for First at Fest

09/07/2019

The grime music sensation Stormzy has apologised to Skunk Anansie's frontperson Skin, after making the mistake of claiming that he was the first black artist to headline the acclaimed Glastonbury Festival. Stormzy made his claim before going on stage, and it was repeated by some media including the BBC coverage on BBC2 and BBC4, before Skin pointed out that her band had headlined in 1999. Skin, who identifies as a bisexual woman of colour, was also the first black woman to headline Glastonbury. The spat took place on social media but in contrast with so much else online, was extremely good natured, with Skin saying that Stormzy's set was fantastic and noting that there should be much more black British talent appearing at Glastonbury and other festivals.
