Vaisakhi Marked by LGBTQIA Sikhs and Friends

13/04/2024

LGBTQIA Sikhs have been celebrating the Spring Festival of Vaisakhi with their friends and families this Saturday (13th April).  Vaisakhi is a solar New Year and spring festival and is recorded by Wikipedia as one of the most important dates in the Sikh calendar.  Along the groups sending their wishes to all Sikhs for Vaisakhi is Sarbat, the network for LGBTQIA+ Sikhs in the UK.  In addition, Vaisakhi, known by various regional names, is also celebrated by many Hindus, who also have an LGBT+ network, called GALVA108.  Celebrations are held throughout the Asian and South Asian communities in the UK and North America.  If you are marking Vaisakhi, we wish you every happiness and joy in your celebrations.
