LGBT+ Ally Drakeford Steps Down in Wales

BBC Radio Wales reported on Tuesday 19th March that Mark Drakeford, the First Minister of the Welsh government, took part in his final Question and Answer Session at the Senedd Cymru - The Welsh Assembly at Cardiff Bay.  Drakeford was first elected as the Member of the Senedd  for Cardiff West in 2011 and is considered to be on the soft left of the Labour Party.   In addition to his membership of the Labour Party, he is a member of Unite the Union and UNISON, and a solidarity member of LGBT+ Labour.  He has been a firm ally of the trans community and spoken out many times against fringe groups that blame trans people for society's ills.  Wikipedia notes that In November 2021, Drakeford and Plaid Cymru's first openly gay leader Adam Price reached a co-operation agreement on policy in a wide range of areas.  From Wednesday 20th March, Mr Drakeford's successor has been experience Labour politician Vaughan Gething

Mae Wikipedia yn nodi Ym mis Tachwedd 2021, daeth Drakeford ac arweinydd hoyw agored cyntaf Plaid Cymru Adam Price i gytundeb cydweithredu ar bolisi mewn ystod eang o feysydd. O ddydd Mercher 20fed Mawrth, mae olynydd Mr Drakeford wedi bod yn wleidydd Llafur profiadol Vaughan Gething.
