Concern was expressed by some LGBTQIA left leaning activists at the news, in the Independent newspaper on Saturday 13th January, that amongst nine arrests at a Palestinian Solidarity Protest in London, one person was held for possession of illegal fly stickers that could be used to promote the cause on public property. It was noted by campaigners that the stickers confiscated did not breach terrorism offences and instead were for legitimate and legal demands. One gay person on the former Twitter site said "Whatever your views on Palestine and Israel, flyposting and flysticking of political literature has a long tradition and is a way of getting messages across that are left out of the main newspapers. Many times in the past our community has also had to flypost to make its points known. Arresting someone for possession of flystickers is petty and a waste of police time".
