Pink News and the BBC News Channel are amongst those media noting that, without much comment or fuss within France itself, the French Republic has gained its first out gay Prime Minister, Mr Gabriel Attal. Mr Attal is just thirty four, which also makes him the youngest ever French PM. He will answer to the President, Emmanuel Macron, who is concerned about the threat to France's democratic traditions from the far right National Rally Party, and its populist leader Marine Le Pen. Mr Attal may be just the person to help see of the far right organisation, because he is by far and away the most popular of the Macron government with voters. The BBC notes "Polls show that he is by far the most admired member of the Macron government - competing at the same level as the president's main enemy, the nationalist Marine Le Pen". Pink News says that Mr Attal has been open about being bullied at a prestigious private school, and also notes that he turned being outed by a vengeful colleague into an advantage by taking the opportunity to share his life with his then partner.
