Madonna Apologises to Disabled Fan After Gaff

07/04/2024

The Guardian reports that pop queen Madonna, who the former gay men's newspaper Boyz used to refer to as "Our Glorious Leader" has apologised to a disabled, wheelchair using fan after she initially urged them to stand during a performance.  The paper says "In footage taken during the US leg of her Celebration tour and shared on social media in recent days, the singer, speaking on her microphone, tells the audience member: “Take this ride with me! What are you doing sitting down over there? What are you doing sitting down?”, before walking over to the person.  Upon realising her mistake, she says: “Oh, OK. Politically incorrect, sorry about that. I’m glad you’re here.”  To date, neither Madonna's tour managers, LGBTQIA+ disability organisations or wide disability groups have made any statement on the incident.
