The Guardian newspaper will be hosting Rob Halford, the lead singer of the highly influential heavy metal band Judas Priest, on Saturday 2nd March. Rob will be taking part in a question and answer session, and queries to this prominent gay figure in heavy metal, can be posted to the Guardian's website. Questions must be in by 3pm on Friday 1st March. The band Judas Priest have been around since the late sixties, and Rob has been their lead singer since 1973, during which time the band was deeply influential on the development of many other bands, from Iron Maiden to Megadeth. Rob took the hairspray leather look of early metal bands like Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin and added a certain gay fetishistic flair to it, appearing on stage in revealing leather SM outfits that made him stand out from the crowd. Wikipedia notes that they have sold over fifty million albums worldwide and are commonly considered one of the finest metal bands of all time.
