A little offering now for both radio anoraks and fans of the irrepressibly LGBTQIA+ friendly grand prix, The Eurovision Song Contest. Arrowe Sound, the hospital radio station for Birkenhead and the Wirral, has started a Eurovision Song Contest magazine show, featuring the songs that have made the contest such a camp institution for nearly seventy years. Host Simon spent many years working in local commercial radio across the Midlands in the UK, including stints at Breakfast and Drivetime. Since leaving full time radio he spent a good deal of time exploring other pursuits, including starting his own business, before eventually coming full circle to find himself working as a freelance voice over artist and radio presenter. The Eurovision Show was a labour of love – and a way to combine his passion for radio with his guilty pleasure of Eurovision! Simon plays the Euro hits past and present plus gossip from the contest backrooms. The programme airs at five o'clock on Mondays on the station, which is transmitted across the Wirral's hospitals and online. As if that wasn't enough, there is from the continent, an all day Eurovision Network, known as ESC Radio, standing for the Euro Song Contest Radio...... you can find them online with a mix of past and present Eurovision classics, twenty four hours a day. Meanwhile, the European Broadcasting Union, the coalition of public service networks including the BBC and RTE, has for sale on its website some new rainbow Pride branded Eurovision merchandise including bags and socks.
