Daily Mirror Readers Back Brianna Apology

12/03/2024

A poll of readers of the centre left Daily Mirror newspaper reveals that an overwhelming majority of the papers readers believe that Prime Minister Rishi Sunak owes the family of murdered transgender schoolgirl Brianna Ghey an apology for his cheap remarks in the House of Commons.  Sunak made the jibe at Labour leader Keir Starmer over his stance on 'defining a woman' while Brianna's mother Esther was in Parliament.  In the poll conducted by the paper, over sixteen hundred people voted that Sunak should apologise towering against just over nine hundred hateful people who posted anti-transgender abuse on the papers website.  The leader of the Labour Party commented "I do think that the role of Prime Minister is to make sure that every single citizen, whatever their identity, their race, their background, their views, every single citizen of this country should feel safe and respected in their own country. And he broke that rule. And I was shocked. This is a mother whose daughter was murdered. And in the sentencing remarks amongst the motives, was transphobia."
