There are more LGBTQIA streaming and internet radio stations than ever before and we should all welcome the diversity of services representing the diversity of our movement. Even major brands have launched LGBT+ services, with the HITS Radio Network, a national digital radio station here in the UK, having an LGBT+ internet offshoot called Hits Radio Pride. Now, according to the media website RCS, Hits Radio Pride is going to be broadcast on digital DAB radio transmitters in many towns and cities of the UK, including Birmingham, Bournemouth, Bradford, Edinburgh, and Abertawe / Swansea. Ben Cooper, Chief Content & Music Officer, Bauer Media Audio UK, said: “I’m delighted for Hits Radio Pride which initially launched as a six-month pop-up station and then went from strength to strength in creative confidence, mixing uplifting music with its award-winning educational and thought-provoking content. It’s proven to be a hit with both listeners and commercial partners, so we’re delighted to increase its DAB distribution and bring Hits Radio Pride to even more people from the LGBTQ+ community and beyond.” Around thirty two million people will be able to pick up Hits Radio Pride on DAB radio and the service will be particularly welcomed by gay, trans, non-binary and queer people in smaller towns and countryside areas where there may not be an LGBTQIA+ show on community or commercial radio services.
