Top Fashion Designer on New Gender Fluidity

Danmarks Radio, the public broadcaster in Denmark, meets with upcoming fashion designer Søren Le Schmidt in a recent programme called "Denmark's Next Clothing Designer".  A pioneer of upcycling and ecologically conscious recycling back in the nineties before there was such a name for these trends, Soren also thinks that fashion is becoming more gender neutral. "Gender is becoming more fluid, so of course wardrobes need to be too," he says.  Soren is a judge on the "Next Clothing Designer" programme.  12 participants compete to sew their way to the final: a large-scale fashion show where buyers from large stores and brands such as Magasin and Mads Nørgaard look on – ready to put the designers' collections into production.
