Bristolian Pansexual Artist Passes On at 36

15/01/2024

Bristol born pornographic performer and pansexual public influencer Sophie Anderson has passed on to the realm of our LGBTQIA ancestors at the age of thirty six.  Anderson had a troubled life including abusive parenting, teenage sexual exploitation and drug addiction.  Nonetheless, despite her early exposure to the less pleasant parts of urban life, Anderson owned her sexuality as a pornographic actress and on several occasions was lauded as something of a "gay icon".  In 2020, Anderson and fellow adult actor Rebecca More along with gay porn actor Matthew Camp began presenting "Slag Wars: The Next Destroyer", a reality television competition series. Anderson discussed her life and career candidly for the gay male You Tube weblog maintained by Callum McSwiggan and also was the inspiration for several drag queen performances on and off the gay scene.  Wikipedia notes that Anderson was a member and an advocate of the LGBTQ community, as she herself was openly pansexual.  Her death comes just a month after the passing of Oliver Spedding, a heterosexual porn star whom she married.  James Barr from A Gay and a Non Gay Podcast said "I’m truly heartbroken over the loss of Sophie Anderson. For us, Sophie was a beacon of liberation, illuminating our journey to acceptance. She empowered our queer community to embrace our true identity, explore our sexual power, and, most importantly, break free from shame."
