Harvey Milk Day is organized by the Harvey Milk Foundation and celebrated each year held May 22 in memory of Harvey Milk, a gay rights activist assassinated in San Francisco along with the City Mayor George Moscone in 1978.
Harvey was the first out citizen to enter public office in the United States
