Tashnuva is Bangladesh's First Trans TV Host

12/03/2021

Congratulations are due this week, says the BBC, to Tashnuva Anan Shishir, who became Bangladesh's first transgender news reader, delivering her first bulletin for Boishakhi  Television channel in the country on Monday, International Women's Day. Tashnuva is twenty nine, and despite suffering from harrassment in her life, has built herself an impressive existence, with a Masters Degree in Public Health and now a burgeoning career in television. After her first transmission, Tashnuva was so overcome with happy emotions that she broke down in the studio and was comforted by the other staff at the station. So, if you get Bangaldeshi television on your satellite package, be sure to look out for Boishakhi TV and for Tashnuva. We send both of them our heartfelt wishes.
