Plans for the Protection of SF, Queer Capital

23/07/2021

The LGBTGIA capital of the world is often said to be San Francisco. The beautiful city by the bay is at risk of sea level rise, reports the Smithsonian TV Channel. On Sunday afternoon last, a documentary on sea level rise over the next two hundred years, considered the problems affecting human populations globally as right wing governments continue to mess up efforts to curb emissions that are causing pollution and climate chaos. But San Francisco, with its LGBTQIA and green philosophies could well help weather the proverbial storm caused by hetero-supremacist hubris, and the destructive idea that people must constantly grow their economies at all cost. Provisional plans to keep the bay area alive include to build a dam near the Golden Gate Bridge, and protect the cities and towns around it. Meanwhile, eco friendly and liberal stronghold of the Netherlands is working to design floating cities of the future, and one architect even proposes to save at risk New York from the Atlantic with lagoons, floating structures and re-wilding.
