Angelina Jolie Pledges to Support Libraries

24/09/2021

Angelina Jolie, who is an ambassador for the charity Amnesty International was delighted in the week to meet on BBC-1s flagship evening programme The One Show, Emily Waldron, a young activist who is transgender and who helps co-ordinate free books for school and youth libraries with LGBTQ themes to ensure youngsters are not isolated. During a video link up, Ms Jolie said There’s a few schools I work on internationally and you know I honestly haven’t really checked the libraries specifically for representation. I’m going to do that as soon as we get off this call”. Emily's mother said that she found it amazing that her daughter spoke to such a superstar as Ms Jolie.  “To be honest I don’t know what to say!! Watching my daughter sit chatting to Angelina Jolie has got to be the most surreal moment ever!!!”.
