Plymouth Pride Lights Candle for Shooting

25/08/2021

Pride in Plymouth was amongst those LGBTQIA organisations posting a candle to its web feeds on Friday night after the shooting of five people by a man who is believed to be linked to an international network of misogynistic conservatives called Incels. Twenty two year old Jake Davison murdered his own mother and other people including a three year old girl before turning his gun on himself. BBC Two's flagship evening news programme News Night on Friday looked at the international Incel movement, which is largely an online community of homophobic and transphobic misogynists. Mr Davison had interacted deeply with this movement of men, according to the BBC and experts on Radicalisation and extremism. The Police are investigating a number of lines of enquiry including the Incel angle, and why Mr Davison was reissued with a gun license after it had previously been revoked.
