New Met Chief Calls Phobic Posts "Shameful"

14/10/2022

BBC-2's flagship evening news programme Newsnight, has revealed that a What’s Up Group comprising of former male members of the Metropolitan Police Service is being investigated for extreme, disturbing and violently hateful racism, misogyny and homophobia. Former Met Office member Rob Lewis, who now works for the Home Office, has been arrested and is being held under suspicion of breaking the Communications Act and of gross misconduct in a public office. The Met's new commissioner, Sir Mark Rowley, called the material "horrific and completely shameful" and pledged to be ruthless in removing officers who damage the integrity of the force.
