Goth Couple Attacked in Glasgow

20/04/2022

The Scottish Daily Record says that a goth couple were attacked by two heterosexual males on April 15th in Glasgow City Centre.  The Police are investigating.  Lexie Jackson and her partner say that they have been targetted several times because they are part of a subcultural minority.  In addition, Lexie received abuse online after she posted her experiences of assaults by young people who are usually called “normals” or non-subcultural people.  In the wake of the murder in 2007 of the goth young woman Sophie Lancaster, a network exists to support subcultural groups who have been targetted because they do not fit in to what mainstream society considers “normal”.  Visit the Sophie Lancaster Foundation online for help, advice and to get active.
