"Absurd" Claims by Authorities Against Bar

18/08/2022

Pink News reports that the only gay venue in Canterbury in Kent, is fighting back at what the owners describe as “absurd” harassment by homophobes within the Police force and the Council. A police spokesperson said that the authorities had been called to deal with numerous incidents at Limes Lounge Bar, including using unlicensed bouncers, drug taking behind the bar and customers being allowed in after nominal closing time. Co-owners Michael Lee and Tony Butcher however said “They’re creating a situation which is not necessary. We don’t cause any issues here at all… They’re trying to crucify us.”. Limes Lounge has already survived attempts by internet homophobes to intimidate it into closing.
