The Transgender Action Block is closely monitoring and mobilising against the activities of anti-trangender groups, many of whom have links to the far right, Christian fundamentalism and other reactionary organisations. The Block reports that on Thursday 21st October, there will a conference of an anti-transgender group called the LGB Alliance at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Hall in Westminster. Despite its name, the LGB Alliance is not supported by the overwhelming majority of gay, lesbian or bisexual people, and indeed is regarded as a right wing front group by most gay political commentators. The Transgender Action Block are leading a coalition to protest against the LGB Alliance, from 3 to 9.30pm. They invite supporters to bring flags, banners and signs, but ask that everyone present be sober and collected for the demonstration. This is because although anti-trans groups have often been extremely uncomplementary about trans and gay people, they are also notably thin skinned and will try to get anyone shouting insults arrested. Finally, the Action Block say, This is a long demonstration, as the event will go on for a long time. Please bring food, water, and if you would benefit from them, foldable chairs and torches.
