"Life of Brian" Marks 40 Years of Subversion

16/07/2019

The street sold paper The Big Issue says that Monty Python's “Life of Brian” movie, is back touring cinemas this summer for its fortieth anniversary. At the time, many of the same people who railed against LGBT people in the press and on religious programmes, were also trying their hardest to frustrate the original release of the film, which they regarded as blasphemous, despite being carefully written to avoid clashing with Britain's now defunct laws against religious mockery. Today, the film enjoys a place in the hearts of the nation and is recognised as a comedy great. And it's thematic ending single “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life” is a great pick me up tune for anyone feeling down.
