Greetings to LGBTQ pagans, as we come to another of the eight equally spaced festivals which map out the wheel of the year. On Tuesday 22nd September we reach the Autumn Equinox, when day and night are briefly equal and after which the night time hours here in the northern hemisphere are longer as we begin the journey to the shortest day in three months time. The Equinox is known amongst most contemporary pagans as Mabon. The Glastonbury bookstore the Goddess and the Green Man summarises the spirit of the season as follows: Night and day are again of equal length and in perfect equilibrium - dark and light, masculine and feminine, inner and outer, in balance. It is time to thank the waning Sun for the wealth of harvest bestowed upon us. It is time to complete projects, to clear out and let go that which is no longer wanted or needed as we prepare for descent, so that the winter can offer a time for reflection and peace. And it is time to plant seeds of new ideas and hopes which will lie dormant but nourished in the dark, until the return of Spring. We have prepared a few links to further reading from some of our favourite pagan and new age websites. Have a look at our news feed for the links and enjoy this special season.
