The national LGBTQI support and pastoral care group for Roman Catholics, QUEST, is still aiming to hold its conference in July. The event should take place in Manchester, and the organization is hopeful that Covid restrictions will have been lifted by then. The group says “Though the finer detail of the timetable isn’t yet fully finalised the main event sessions will be on Saturday morning, after lunch on Saturday, followed by either a Spirituality focussed hour or free time to explore Manchester, catch up with old friends or make some new ones. The final session will be on Sunday morning followed by a panel discussion after lunch.”. All people who are interested are welcome at the conference, for which booking is essential. You do not necessarily need to be a Roman Catholic. Speakers at the event will include Professor Gerard Loughlin from the Theology Department at Durham University, Dr Luca Badini Confalonieri, and Dr Anne-Marie Martindale. These Catholic experts will be discussing the effects of the latest thinking in Catholicism, especially as the current Pontiff, Pope Francis, has revolutionized the rhetoric coming out of the Vatican and challenged the homophobia of previous Popes.
