Analysis of Age Old Hatreds

24/06/2021

People interested in examining where old and new hatreds collide, and where xenophobia, which is almost always a threat to LGBTQ freedom, arises, might be interested in picking up issue 244 of the long standing academic journal The Jewish Quarterly, available from WH Smiths in Bristol and larger bookstores and newsagents. In the essays inside, Simon Schama looks at what he describes as “age old tropes” under which Jews (and women, and gay people) are both purveyors of disease and secretly in charge of society, and historian Deborah Lipstadt looks at the anti-Jewish conspiracy theories that underpin modern racisms like white supremacy.
