The LGBTQIA+ communities have lost an ally within the Roman Catholic church this week, with the announcement of the death of Christof May, a German theologian and priest. He had passionately advocated for samesex couples, divorced and remarried heterosexuals being permitted to take the sacraments. He also spoke up for the ordination of women in Catholicism. Father May was however, accused of assault in early June and took his life after being removed from the church duties he loved. The diocese to which he was attached issued a statement saying "The death of Christof May affects us all. We have lost a dedicated and much appreciated pastoral worker."
