They don't like being labelled as neo-Nazis but the Kent Socialist Alliance has taken on the highly litigious right wing party the English Democrats. The English Democrats are a small political party which emerged out of the general right wing milieu in the last decade. Although they like to portray themselves as an English decentralising force equivalent to Plaid Cymru in Wales or the SNP in Scotland, the party shares none of the socially liberal platforms of those two parties. Instead, it is known for its pursuit of policies described by many as racist and heterosexual supremacist. A spokesperson for the Kent Socialist Alliance is unintimidated by the grouping however, and writes in this weeks issue of the left wing paper Weekly Worker: “This particular group is led by one Richard Tillbrook, who idiotically wrote back in 2017 a particularly vile racist and childish piece in his blog about the horrendous fire at Grenfell, in which he blames the residents because they weren’t English”. The English Democrats once won the mayoralty of the town of Doncaster, and promptly tried to withdraw funding for the town's Pride Parade. However, the electorate threw the party out in subsequent elections. Today, the party rarely polls above two hundred votes in most Parliamentary elections. It is also engaged in vicious turf warfare with other far right groups.
