Sadie Robinson, writing in the leftist weekly paper Socialist Worker says that liberal feminist demands for longer sentencing and greater police powers in the wake of the horrific murder of Sarah Everard, will do little to help working class women, who are already over-represented in the prison complex system. In a piece which will make for much questioning amongst separatist ends of feminism, Ms Robinson argues that “there is no link between the rate of imprisonment and recorded crime, according to the National Audit Office”. She says To get rid of violence against women for good, we have to uproot the system that causes it and create a socialist society. “
