Exposing Bullying at Public Schools

11/04/2021

The communist daily paper The Morning Star, criticized by some on the LGBTQ left for giving undue prominence to Stalinist feminist groups during the recent debates over trans inclusivity, has called for what it calls “an honest” discussion about pornography and misogyny as former public school students open websites allowing survivors of abuse to come forward.  The paper says that the problem, which it acknowledges is not solely the preserve of the independent or public school sector, is partly to do with power differentials in society, but also has strong words for the social media platforms and the preponderance of pornography available.  However, its use of the term “moral degeneracy” will ring alarm bells for many LGBTQ people on the political left, as they remember the Stalinist left and its shameful history of homophobia and trying to equate LGBTQ people with capitalist forms of profiteering.
