Women's Day Gets Good Reception Across Media

10/03/2021

International Women’s Day was celebrated on Monday, March 8th.  Many community media projects marked the day with programming by women for the whole community, including BCFM, Ujima and SWU Radios here in urban Bristol.  On the LGBTQ stations too, there was coverage, with the Gaydio network showcasing the best in female presenters all day.  They were joined by Gorgeous FM and Pride Radio as well.  From the BBC, special programmes were aired on Radio 4 and Radio 6Music, along with a wealth of documentary programmes on BBC Television networks.  In Bristol, the importance of intersectional feminism was stressed, and the day’s online celebrations co-ordinated by Bristol Women’s Voice included trans, lesbian and women of colour discussing how to take the movement forward.
