Progress for Progress Flag

15/06/2021

Pink News reports that the “Progress Pride Flag”, one of the recent iterations of the longstanding LGBTQ symbol, designed in the seventies, has been updated with the purple circle on yellow emblem of the Intersex community. The new hybrid design was the work of Valentino Vecchietti, an activist with Intersex Equality Rights UK and also a former columnist with DIVA Magazine. The complete Intersex community flag was first unvieled in 2013 by Intersex Human Rights Australia, who explain: “The circle is unbroken and un-ornamented, symbolising wholeness and completeness, and our potentialities. We are still fighting for bodily autonomy and genital integrity, and this symbolises the right to be who and how we want to be.”
