New TV Network Offers Right Wing News Slant

31/05/2021

GB News TV, the latest national television network, goes “live” on Sunday June 13th and will be available on all platforms including the free to air freeview. The new station is going to be right of centre in its political reportage, something which will surprise some sections of the public, who are used to rigorously enforced impartiality on BBC and Sky News channels. In fact, it is not true that British broadcasters have to be totally impartial. They simply have to acknowledge the fact that there are alternative points of view and this loophole has for some years already been exploited by the Kremlin's pet television project, RT or Russia Today. Whilst some LGBTQ people will welcome competition for the BBC, there is no evidence that GB News TV will be anything other than the usual heterosexist platform that dominates the media. GB News TV even talks dismissively of “culture wars” in its prelaunch text, indicating that it might just be a bunch of straight men moaning about the fact that they no longer control the world.
