More of the same from the LGBTQIA communities please! That's the message after the United Nation's draw dropping report on the urgent crisis now facing human civilisation thanks to industrialisation, intensive farming, pollution and the oil industries. Why more from us? Well, it's already been established by pollsters that our community is interested and active in issues such as environmentalism and peripheral movements such as that for animal rights and local organic produce. Eric Swank, at the University of Arizona, found that LGBTQIA people are more than twice as likely as heterosexual cisgender people to join movements tackling climate change or similar issues. A report two years later in the Independent found that heterosexual men had a long way to go to match the recycling and reusing enthusiasm amongst gay men. Once again, in the words of the early Gay Liberation Front manifesto, it seems that “gay shows the way”, in this case, of what we need to do to be responsible citizens and customers. Remember, green is an essential central colour to the rainbow flag.
