The LGBTIQ+ People's Centre in London is a remarkable project, providing a home from its South East London base to dozens of grassroots LGBTQIA campaigning organisations and groups. It is the latest in a long line of gay community centres that have existed in the capital since the old Gay Liberation Front squatted building network of the early seventies. Housing and homelessness remain and issue for many LGBTQIA youth and even elders, so the Centre is this year working overtime to provide services over Christmas and the New Year to members of our community who are in temporary or insecure accommodation or are homelessness. The club magazine QX reports that recruitment of Londoners who want to get involved in the Centre, in the LGBTQIA Shelter and in working to provide a Christmas dinner to the needy is taking place now.
