Gay Republican Stands Up for Beliefs

28/06/2021

LGBTQ People do not belong to any ideology, religion or philosophy and are everywhere in all walks of life. But there are those on both the hard right and hard left of politics that find it difficult to accept, such is their prejudice. Republican activist and elected representative in Virginia, Joshua Higginbottom has come out as a gay man, according to LGBTQ Nation newswire. He is popular and been elected many times to retain his seat. He also showed that Republicans need not be traditional values fanatics, when he publically argued a conservative Republican case for equality for all citizens. Since he came out, Mr Higginbottom has received lots of support from the LGBTQ communities, even from leftists who might usually find themselves arguing for differenent causes to Joshua. Democrats by and large have said that what he has done is brave, despite being in an opposing party. Christian hate groups have tried to influence the Republicans to de-selet Mr Higginbottom, but so far the Party seem happy with his performance and he retains his hard won seat.
