BBC News Channel reports that founder of the Glastonbury Festival, Michael Eavis, has said that he cannot guarantee that the postponed festival will take place in 2021 either. The event this year was to have been headlined by performers including Kendrick Lamarr, Taylor Smith and ex-Beatle Paul McCartney. The heavy metal music website Kerrang! Takes up the story saying that Mr Eavis has speculated that the next iteration of the event might have to wait until 2022. Speaking with ITV News, Mr Eavis added “I’m still hoping I’m going to be running next year and I’m going to be moving heaven and earth to make sure that we do. But that doesn’t mean it will necessarily happen. That is just wishful thinking, really.” There is an LGBTQ safe space at the Glastonbury Festival, called NYC Downlow, it is a temporary megaclub with a capacity of fifteen thousand, which exists in a cluster of blocks at the corner of the festival called Block9. The space is welcomed and supported by the main Glastonbury Festival organisers. When the Glastonbury Festival returns, so too will the NYC Downlow club experience.
