Gay Millionaire Makes Huge Donation to ACLU

Atheist magazine The Freethinker welcomes the uprecedented grant by philanthropist Jon L Stryker to the American Civil Liberties Union. Mr Stryker is gay and has long supported liberal, HIV, LGBTQ and sexual freedom causes through his grants. The grant to the ACLU, of fifteen million dollars, is the largest in the organisations history. Jon Stryker is heir to the Stryker Corporation medical devices manufacturer and has used his money to support many concerns including the environment as well as human equality. The Freethinker's editor, Barry Duke, said that right wing fundamentalist groups were howling with rage that liberal politics should gain so much money, particularly for advocating for LGBTQ freedom. Other commentators noted that Mr Striker's generous donation to the ACLU will help redress the imbalance in American public politics, where anti-gay churches are often awash with cash and liberal groups struggle to make their voices heard.
