Yoga is a discipline drawn from Indian traditions and has been used for thousands of years to engage balance in spirit and body. In the nineteen sixties, some forms of Yoga began to become popular in the UK, on the back of the international hippie movement and today there are many people around the globe who have experienced the health benefits of the practice. In Bristol, local alternative newspaper B247 reports that “Shine Hypnotherapy” has organised a weekly hour long session of Yoga for LGBTQ people and allies. The class will take place at The Square, a dedicated Yoga studio at Number 27 Portland Square. This building has a long tradition of support for LGBTQ people. For many years the Pierian Centre was based here, a project that focussed on progressive politics and wellbeing, whilst the building next door to it was home to a political squat for some years and organised various events on its premises. Be that as it may, Queer Yoga costs nine pounds per session and for more details visit bristolshine.co.uk.
