Professionals Unite Over Anti-Trans "Therapy"

With the British government appearing to have capitulated to right wing and feminist hate groups over whether to institute a ban on anti-transgender conversion, a stance that has already cost it an embarrassing cancellation of a major international LGBT+ conference, a huge number of mental health, medical and psychological professional bodies have leant their considerable weight to ask why conversion therapies are still to be permitted on trans young people. Pink News reports that all the leading medical bodies have made representations to government including, the British Medical Association, the UK Council for Psychotherapy, the Royal College of Psychiatrists, the British Psychological Society, the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families, and national mental health charity MIND. Dr Adrian James, president of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, noted “Conversion therapy causes severe physical and psychological suffering, violates the human rights of all LGBTQ+ people, and has been called a form of torture,".
