North Somerset Marks World AIDS Day in Style

10/12/2022

North Somerset’s highly active LGBT+ Forum marked World AIDS Day in style on Wednesday 30th November. Their concert “Torch Songs and Tiaras” took place at All Saints Church in Weston-Super-Mare. The event commemorated those who lost their lives to HIV and AIDS. The varied concert included apperances by Rikki Withers, Archie Bongiovanni, Santiago Luna Bio, local band Start of Time and Musical Theatre Students of Weston University. Also featured was a video interview with Doctor Rupert Whitaker, co founder of the Terrence Higgins Trust way back in 1982 and a close associate of Terry Higgins, the gay nightclub DJ whose death was the first to be recorded as of an AIDS related condition.
