We recently heard from LGBT Bristol charity how it was to be wound down this Autumn as funding had dried up. It's a story that is affecting many charities across the board: funders have turned inwards with the Covid19 pandemic and for a while it has been difficult for anyone to gain essential grants and monies to keep going. With public donations also falling during the lockdown, there are many voluntary groups that are facing closure or severe curtailment of services. Macmillan Cancer Relief is fighting back. The organisation is keen to continue its tradition of annual Coffee Mornings. They say that this year, the date is earmarked as Friday 25th September. On an early Autumn morning, with the promise of mellow days to come, the charity encourages its supporters to bring cakes and coffee into work or local community centres to raise funds for the charity, which supports people facing cancer.
