Autistic Pride Day Receives National Note

29/06/2021

18th June was Autistic Pride Day. Modelled on the twin movements of Disability Direct Action and Gay Pride, Autistic Pride says that its aims are to demonstrate that “we are proud of being autistic and that we are not diseased or defective or in need of a cure. We have as much right to live a happy and fulfilled life as neurotypicals”. In an online celebration for 2021, speakers included human rights activist Peter Tatchell and socialist activist Janine Booth.
